The Journey of Resonance

Aktualisiert: 24. Juni 2025

I receive

when I draw, when I illustrate, when I feel, when something within asks to take form.

And I follow that impulse until I can see the vision emerging —

the idea, the emotion, the image reflects as visual appearance on the paper through lines, color & shape.

Then, as soon as a piece of art is shared with the public eye, it seemingly begins a new life.

It travels out into the world and is seen and perceived by many.

And in that unfolding, something beautiful happens:

there are some people who experience a deep resonance with the artwork in heart or mind or both.

And that's what I call The Journey of Resonance.

In this blog I love to explore this idea through three short videos in relation to the watercolor illustration Serene Horizon.

Each video reflects a different facet of this journey.

In this first video snippet I introduce the idea of The Journey of Resonance.

Below in the second video, I felt inspired to share impressions from those who viewed the piece at the recent Rosen Meets Art exhibition in March 2025, in Bamberg, Germany.

In the following video reflection, I quote the French painter Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) along with thoughts on art, the ocean and how these relate to aspects of my own artistic calling.

What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity, of tranquility, without troubling or disturbing subject matter, which would be for every mental worker, for the businessman as well as the man of letters, for example, a soothing, calming influence on the mind, something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.

These words by Matisse specifically have resonated with me since I first read them many years ago and therefore I loved to include them in this reflection.

Now, how do you relate to The Journey of Resonance as explored here ?
