A Creative Collaboration

This portrait fashion sketch is close to my heart—it’s a spontaneous collaboration with my creative little nephew. He brought a red background to life using his favorite colored pencil, filling the page with an energy and boldness that immediately stood out to me.

Later, while flipping through my sketchbook, I stumbled upon that vibrant page again. The way he used red was so striking and full of life that I kept thinking about it even later. It sparked a thought:

What if I layered a fashion sketch on top?

The inspiration came from a Chanel ad I had seen on Instagram some time ago.

I loosely based the portrait on that, letting it evolve naturally over the red. Once the sketch was complete, I photographed the page and added a watercolor filter digitally.

I loved how this extra layer emphasized the expression in the drawing—something about it just came alive.
